Where was I? oh yes, Menawa was born shortly after our wedding. You may be asking yourself why I didn't go home to my second wife, whom I hadn't married yet being as I was still married to Kinati, I think the answer should be obvious though... I was being responsible. That and Kinati's dad was a hunter, with a big and very mean looking, rifle. No regrets though! And truth be told if he'd not been involved in our uhm, "wedding" I would have gotten around to proposing... it might have been after Menawa was born though, I do tend to procrastinate.
For 15 years the three of us did our thing, the whole time Kinati was on at me about having more kids (she got over her party phase faster than I did) but it wasn't until Menawa left for his apprenticeship that Kinati got pregnant with Bermurhall. We thought he was going to be a girl. Bermurhall was 2 when Onatak was born (but if you're reading this and you're in the Brightmoon Faire remember that Onatak insists on making his own way without name trading... so pretend you don't know he's mine!).
This is where things get a bit complicated... see, this is a long time ago and the centaur still plagued the tauren a great deal. Our camp was attacked... no wait, maybe I should start with my brother. Kinati was quite a catch, and my brother wasn't blind. In fact he was pretty pissed about missing out on her and he's always had it out for me... I know, weird hey? I mean who could possible not love me? At any rate, things came to light after the attack that made me really sad to know that I even had a brother.
Apparently, no I should say "actually" since it's true... during the attack my brother pointed out a fallen tauren from our camp, someone beaten so badly you couldn't really tell who it was, and exclaimed loudly that it was me. Since everyone was fleeing the attack (except for the few of us trying to hold them off) it was impossible to stop and check. My brother, lovely fellow that he is, took Bermurhall and Onatak into his "care" and made off in another direction. Kinati was lost in the shuffle and couldn't find me or the boys and so went with the group praying she'd meet up with us. It was chaos.
I was wounded badly enough that I had to stay with the healers along with the few others that were either dying or very badly wounded. The next day my brother came to my bedside and told me the tragic tale of how my wife and two of my sons had died in the blood bath. He'd told a similar story to Kinati the night before. He told the same story to the tauren couple in a neighbouring camp when he asked them to take in the boys. Knowing what I know now I think my brother might have killed me right there to seal the deal... but we were interrupted by a healer who was concerned at my "agitation". I was sedated.
I learned several years later that Kinati had remarried... my brother. The two of them died in a mysterious natural disaster before I could reunite with my former wife. I didn't learn about the younger boys until just recently when Onatak found me. Menawa was still in his apprenticeship and opted to remain there while I dealt with my misguided grief.
So there you have it! My elaborate plot to get out of rearing my own children! Tune in next week for another gripping tale!
Author's Note: Kinati and Menawa were invented as a tie-in for the player Onatak to become part of the Brightmoon Family. Bermurhall already existed in Onatak's back story.
